A Little Perspective
Every once in a while, it’s good to be reminded of what really matters.
Life gets busy. Between work, schedules, appointments, projects, and the never-ending list of things that need our attention, it’s easy to get caught up in simply getting everything done.
But at the end of the day, the time we spend with family and friends, showing up for one another and staying connected, is what matters most.
So as summer begins to wind down, I’m reminding myself to make time for the people who matter. Make the phone call. Get together for dinner. Check in on someone you haven’t talked to in a while. And when someone needs you, be there if you can.
Everything else will still be waiting for you.
I hope you’re enjoying these last weeks of summer and finding a little time for the people and things that matter most.
And now, back to one of the things that keeps me plenty busy: our local real estate market. Here’s what I’m seeing in Lamorinda as we head toward fall.
August 2026 Lamorinda Market Update
The broader Bay Area housing market continues to send mixed signals, but here in Lamorinda, the story is more nuanced.
Mortgage rates ended July near their highs for the year, and that has taken some momentum out of buyer demand across much of the region. At the same time, inventory in Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda remains relatively limited, which continues to support sellers in many parts of our local market.
The three Lamorinda communities are not behaving exactly the same. Lafayette is showing a slight seller’s advantage, while Moraga and Orinda continue to lean more strongly toward sellers. Inventory has also been trending lower in all three communities, which is important to watch as we move toward the fall market.
What this means for buyers and sellers is that broad headlines only tell part of the story. A home’s location, condition, price point, preparation, and timing can make a meaningful difference in the outcome.
That is why I continue to spend so much time staying connected to the ins and outs of the local market. Understanding the larger economic picture matters, but knowing what is happening right here in Lafayette, Moraga, and Orinda is what helps us make better decisions.
